Need an actionable replacement for Appfire Flow?
Swarmia is trusted by great software organizations from startups to enterprises
Where Appfire Flow gets it wrong
Appfire Flow comes from GitPrime, one of the first tools to turn Git activity into individual scorecards on commits, lines of code, and PRs, all ranked by engineer. That history still shows. It’s the kind of dashboard that makes engineers feel watched instead of supported, and turns 1:1s into conversations about a leaderboard instead of the work.
The bigger issue is that surveillance doesn’t tell you what to do next. A wall of Git metrics can confirm that something feels slow, but it won’t point you to the fix. And it definitely won’t tell you whether the AI tools you’ve rolled out are paying off.
Swarmia is built to close that gap. Every insight comes with a way to act on it — a signal, a recommendation, or a clear next step. And with AI impact tracking built in, you can make a real ROI case for AI coding tools and agents instead of guessing.

Engineering intelligence you can trust
Numbers that survive
difficult questions
Swarmia shows the work behind every metric. You can move from a company-wide view down to a single team, a single project, or a single pull request, and see exactly what the figure consists of. When the numbers get questioned in the room, they hold.
Opinionated where it counts
Swarmia takes a position. It comes with strong defaults for what “good” looks like, drawn from working with thousands of engineering organizations. You keep full control to adjust categories and definitions to your organization, with as much or as little help from the Swarmia customer success team as you need.
Flexible when you need it
Ask Swarmia AI in plain language and get an answer, plus a clear recommendation on what to focus on next. Connect Claude or another AI assistant to your data through Swarmia’s MCP server, or export everything straight to your data warehouse, so you can dig as deep as any question requires.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get started?
The fastest path is a demo. Book a tour with one of our product experts and they’ll walk your team through the product, answer your questions, and shape a trial or POC around your organization.
Want to explore on your own first? Start a free 14-day trial. Alternatively, you can ask our account team for access to the sandbox environment.
How long does it take to set up Swarmia?
Days, not quarters. Swarmia figures out most of the configuration automatically, so there’s no months-long implementation before your first useful number. You can set it up yourself or lean on our customer success team.
The main steps:
- Connect GitHub or GitLab. Once you’ve picked your repositories, importing historical data takes a few hours — up to 24 hours for very large organizations.
- Connect Jira or Linear. Historical import runs on the same timeline.
- Set up your organization and teams. Team membership can sync automatically from GitHub or your HR system.
- Configure investment categories with simple rules that decide where each pull request and ticket lands.
- Onboard your first teams. For larger organizations, we recommend a gradual rollout with support from our customer success team.
Do you need access to our source code?
No. Swarmia reads metadata — commits, reviews, pull requests, issues, and tooling signals — never the contents of your source code.
For network-restricted environments, our on-premise proxy agent keeps that boundary firmly in place.
How do you keep the data trustworthy?
Swarmia is not a black box. When someone asks where a number came from, you can show them — and that’s exactly why customers tell us the data quality is better than anything else they’ve used.
- Drill down to the raw data behind every aggregate, so you can validate what you’re seeing in seconds.
- Rule-based categorization, not a secret algorithm. You decide which data points count and where they go.
- Near real-time sync, so changes in GitHub, GitLab, Jira, or Linear show up in Swarmia right away.
- Swarmia AI keeps your data clean as you go, so teams don’t have to work as data janitors.
Do all our teams have to use Jira the same way to get good data?
No. One of our product principles is that every software team is different, so Swarmia works for your teams and your whole organization no matter how each team has decided to use Jira.
In fact, customers often tell us that even a short trial improved their Jira hygiene.
What does Swarmia integrate with?
Your existing stack, as it is today. That includes Git providers, issue trackers such as Jira and Linear, CI, identity providers like Okta and Google, and the major AI coding tools. No re-tooling required.
How does a security review work?
Smoothly. We’ve never failed a security review. We start with an NDA, then share a full documentation pack and complete any vendor forms you use.
Can I get a copy of Swarmia’s SOC 2 Type 2 audit report?
Yes. Reach out to hello@swarmia.com or your account manager and we’ll share it with anyone we have a legitimate business relationship with.
If you’re on a security team, just make sure your point of contact for the evaluation has connected with your account manager first.
Can you complete our security questionnaire?
Happy to. Send it to your account manager or hello@swarmia.com and we’ll complete it for any organization evaluating a paid plan.
Do you support Single Sign-On (SSO) and SAML?
Yes. Swarmia supports SSO through Okta and Google, plus secure login through GitHub. Okta and Google let you give access to people who don’t have GitHub credentials.
Through GitHub authentication, the usual SSO conveniences apply:
- Anyone with access to the relevant GitHub organization can access Swarmia, so there’s no need to create an account per employee.
- When you disable an account in your SSO provider and it’s removed from GitHub, that change propagates to Swarmia automatically.
Can we run Swarmia with network-restricted, on-premise systems?
Yes. Read more about on-premise installations and talk to your account team if you’d like to hear more.
Should we build this ourselves instead?
Some enterprises weigh it, and we’re glad to be transparent about what building in-house really takes. The dashboard is the easy part. The hard part is the underlying data quality, and that’s where most internal efforts stall.
Tell us your situation and we’ll walk you through the trade-off honestly.
