Swarmia is now SOC 2 compliant

Oskari Virtaoja, Head of Engineering · Nov 11, 2021

Update (Dec 15, 2022): Swarmia is now officially SOC 2 Type 2 compliant.

Ever since Swarmia was founded in October 2019, data security has been in our DNA. In fact, we performed our first internal security audits just one month after starting the company.

Fast forward two years, and hundreds of high-performing engineering teams trust us with their software development data. Processing these growth companies’ data is a huge responsibility — one that we continue to take seriously.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that as of November 4, 2021, Swarmia is SOC 2 Type 1 compliant.

What is SOC 2?

System and organization control (SOC) 2 is an audit designed to ensure that service providers have the internal controls in place to securely manage data and protect the interests and privacy of their customers.

SOC 2 was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and it sets criteria for managing customer data according to the five trust service principles: availability, confidentiality, processing integrity, privacy, and security.

SOC 2 audits are performed by independent auditors. The end result of an audit is a report that details the auditor’s opinion on whether and how the service provider adheres to the five trust service principles.

What does the SOC 2 compliance mean for our new and existing customers?

The SOC 2 Type 1 report is a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to keeping our customers’ data safe. The report confirms that Swarmia adheres to the highest industry standards when it comes to data security and privacy.

The report includes detailed information about our:

  • Infrastructure and software: the platforms and tools we use to build, support, secure, maintain, and monitor our systems.
  • Approach to risk assessment and mitigation: the processes and resources we have in place to identify and eliminate risks.
  • Employee security awareness and training: the measures we take to train our employees on security best practices.
