Group your key metrics by org-wide goals

Last week, we added targets to key metrics, so you can show where your engineering organization should be. Now you can also explain why, with goals.

Goals let you group related key metrics and explain them in your own words. Instead of leaving your teams to interpret a set of numbers on their own, you can tell them why those numbers matter — in the same language you used in your last planning cycle. Everyone who looks at key metrics in Swarmia sees that context, too.

Here’s how it works:

• In the key metrics view, drag one metric card onto another to create a goal, or click Create a new goal below your metrics.
• Drag more key metrics into the goal to add them.
• Edit the goal’s title and description to match how your organization talks about the work.
• Collapse a goal to keep the view condensed when you don’t need every metric in sight.

For example, you could group the metrics you’re tracking for delivery speed under a goal like “Get customer feedback faster,” and use the description to explain how it connects to this year’s plans. When someone asks why a target was set, the answer is already there.
