Swarmia has always linked pull requests to issues automatically when developers include the issue key in their PR. Now, we’re adding AI-powered matching to catch the ones that would’ve previously slipped through the cracks.
The new matching compares pull request titles and descriptions with issue titles and descriptions to find likely candidates. High-confidence matches are linked automatically when the PR author and issue assignee match and the issue has recently been in progress. Everything else surfaces as suggestions in Swarmia.
Why does this matter? When PRs and issues are linked, you can trace work all the way from a high-level initiative down to individual commits — and Swarmia calculates effort correctly across your projects. But linking is easy to forget, especially when developers are heads-down.
When a PR gets linked automatically, the author gets a Slack notification letting them know. If the match is wrong, they can undo it directly from the notification or in the app.
To turn it on, go to settings → organization → pull requests → automatic linking.
